Our Story

A member of the North Carolina Main Street Program since 1995, Uptown Roxboro Group (formerly Roxboro Development Group) is comprised of local business volunteers, government employees, and citizens who are working together to improve the uptown environment. The Roxboro Community Planner serves as the Director of the Uptown Roxboro Group. Through planning, coordinating, and implementing ideas, Uptown Roxboro Group strives to make all of Roxboro better by encouraging citizens and business owners to locate, live, work, and play in Historic Uptown.

By being part of the North Carolina Main Street Program (NCMSC), Uptown Roxboro Group works to stimulate economic development within the context of historic preservation. The North Carolina Main Street Program and the Uptown Roxboro Group operate according to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Four-Point Approach: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring.

Our organization has four committees, which represent each of the four-points of the Main Street Four-Point Approach. These committees are each chaired by one of our talented board members, and meet on a monthly basis.
