1792 Beer Co. was started in Roxboro in 2018. Kyle James first had the idea for a bottle shop after visiting a similar shop in some other North Carolina small towns. Zack Wynne was already working for Person County Government in the GIS office and convinced Kyle that Roxboro was a strong community with the potential for growth and would be the perfect place for a new bottle shop. Kyle and Zack knew they wanted a space to offer not only a wide selection but also a clean, open, and welcoming space for everybody. After looking at a few properties, 1792 found its home on Main Street and the process of securing a loan and renovating the shop began. While Kyle had years of retail management experience and Zack worked in state and local government neither had started a business before. At times, it was a learn as you go process full of hard work and plenty of ups and downs. The loan was secured through the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments in October 2018 and the renovation, which was mostly cosmetic, took place in November and December.
