Black Creek Brewery
There’s a saying, “Beer; because no good story ever started over a glass of water.” And, with that in mind, Black Creek Brewery was created.
A local Roxboro favorite, it’s owned by brothers Dan (a former Rocket Scientist) and Mike (a Professional Engineer). While it only opened its doors for the first time in 2017, their story begins much earlier, a time when Indiana Jones ruled the box office and Guns and Roses took over the airwaves.
Flash back to back to 1989. Dan was working across the country in San Diego designing rockets for an aerospace company by day and filling his free time dabbling in the dark arts of craft beer. Through trial and error and nights best forgotten (if they could be remembered), Dan eventually graduated to official Brew Master of his condo’s kitchen.
Filled with success, or slightly too much alcohol, Dan made his way back to North Carolina and his brother, Mike. Here in Person County supplies were plentiful and brewing wasn’t just a hobby, it was a way of life.
Inspired by the natural wildlife that would frequently make an appearance on any given brew day, Dan and Mike continually perfected their process out of their garage. Today you can taste that perfection for yourself in a glass of Sunny Day IPA, Fish Tail Ale, Copperhead Red and Blue Heron Wit. Usually there is a popular food truck out front on Friday or Saturday. And they have been known to have special craft making parties on Sunday!
Located in the heart of Uptown Roxboro on Main Street, Black Creek Brewery is an easy walk to area shops and restaurants. Make sure you stop by for a visit and share your own story.By the way, your well-behaved pet is also welcome!
