Holiday Activity Guide

The Holiday season is officially here, and Roxboro and Person County will soon be in full festive mode with activities that are sure to delight and entertain the young and the young at heart! The 6th annual Jingle on Main will take place on Thursday, December 2 from 4:00 – 9:00 PM in Uptown Roxboro. This event kicks off at 4:00 PM with story time at the Person County Public Library. Then from 5:15 to 7:30 PM watch a series of live performances at Merritt Commons, and the Roxboro Community School band outside of The Kirby Cultural Arts Complex. Find Santa for a picture from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, ride the barrel train for kids, participate in the Ugly Christmas Sweater contest at the family friendly 1792 Beer Co. , visit Duck Donuts Food Truck at Cry Freedom Missions Shoppe, see train displays at Electronic Solutions, watch Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Curious Georg: A Very Monkey Christmas at 7:00 PM or join the Art Reception for Tammy Kaufman and The Art Guild of Person County from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at The Kirby Theater and Cultural Arts Complex. There may even be snow!

The Roxboro Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Merritt Commons will take place during Jingle on Main at 6:30 PM with Mayor Merilyn Newell and the 2021 Distinguished Young Women of Roxboro winner, Andelyn Briggs. Don’t miss the fun and excitement of this annual tradition!

Enjoy a nice afternoon at Hyco Lake hosted by Hyco Lake Real Estate with REMAX at their annual Ornament Giveaway taking place Saturday, December 4th from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM with live music by Molly Stevens.

Roxboro Christmas Parade on December 11 at 2 PM in uptown Roxboro – kids will love the variety of emergency response vehicles, marching band, and the fun floats!

Stick around in Uptown Roxboro to catch Santa and Animal Protection Society of Person County at 1792 Beer Company, a family friendly bottle shop offering both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, with juice for the kids! Santa will be at 1792 Beer Co. from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM for photos with kids, pets, and friends. Succotash food truck will also be serving while Santa visits with everyone.

The Person Caswell Lake Authority is hosting Jingle and Mingle December 11 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm, with local vendors at the William H. Barker Community Building at the Hyco Lake Park and Campground, wine tasting hosted by Tunnel Creek Vineyards, wine tasting hosted by Southern Treasure, a kids craft station, live music, and more! This event is followed up with the 2nd Annual Light the Night on Hyco Lake beginning at 6:00 PM. Docks around the lake will be lit up in Holiday style, and Santa will make an appearance in his “Sleightoon”!

Tunnel Creek Vineyards is hosting a live Christmas & Holiday Songs music event on December 11 from 4:30 – 6:00 PM. Enjoy a glass of wine while listening to local artists performing your favorite sounds of the season.

Speaking of Santa, you can catch up with him on Saturday, December 4th at the Person County Veteran’s Park from 11 AM – 1 PM, and again for Snacks with Santa on December 14th at the Person County Office Building from 5:30 – 7 :30 PM.

The Person County Veterans Council is also hosting the Person County Veterans Mafia Christmas Party at 1792 Beer Co. in Uptown Roxboro on December 18th from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM. They have planned a night of fun fellowship with the community led by DJ Got It Covered and invite you to bring your dancing shoes.

If you are looking for a flexible seasonal option, you can also visit with Santa at Santa’s House or you can visit Santa and his workshop at The Barton Manor Christmas House. Santa’s House is on 740 N Madison Blvd and is open December 2nd through December 23rd, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Thursday, Friday, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturdays and 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Sundays. The Barton Manor Christmas House is open the first weekend of December, Friday through Sunday, and the following two weekends Thursday through Sunday. The hours each day of operation are consistently 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
